Say Anything.

'Say Anything' is a John Cusak/Cameron Crowe 1989 teen flick. ' A noble underachiever and a beautiful valedictorian fall in love the summer before she goes off to college.' This is actually not what this thread is about, but the message is the same.

Actually no it isn't, I just like imdb.com and the title sounded interesting. /snort

This is not necessarily a vent thread - far from it. This is about saying anything - weather, the bird outside your work window, the fundamental differences between Mormons and catholics, how Law and Order Criminal Intent doesn't get the props it deserves, that I always forget whether it's 'it's' or 'its', that my daughter has a beautiful smile and the first guy that breaks her heart - I'm breaking his knees...it's about anything.

So, say anything.

I'm kinda ranting here... For the 400th time this week, my son has ripped off all of his clothes and diaper in record time, hides somewhere and then pees on the floor. *pulls out hair* He refuses to sit on his potty for longer than 3 seconds. We had a few successful attempts, but nothing impressive enough to just lose the diapers. Le sigh.

I hate potty training!!!!

I could not get my kids potty trained til I gave up using diapers. They learned much faster without them.

With my oldest, and is cousin, I started trying to train them at a year old.. since my (lying) mother in law would tell me that all her kids were trained by then (ha!)

I would sit the boys on their pottys and we would read and sing and whatever I could to entertain them hoping they would pee so i could cheer them on and tell em how good they did.. nothin! Then after 45 minutes or an hour I would give up and let em go, and they would immediately pee on the floor.

So at about 2 and a half I gave up using diapers with them, put them in underwear and just let them have their accidents, scold them lightly when they do, then clean em up and show them the potty and tell them thats where they need to go next time. It didnt take long after that, except the bedtime wetting.

Catherine was almost 3. She always did everything whenever SHE wanted to, not when I tried to teach her. It was pretty much when I started back to work and she went into daycare. She just started using the toilet and I put her in pull ups at night. I'm not even bothering with David yet and he's 14 months. Maybe when he turns 2.

My guy just turned 2 in January. He goes to his potty and sits down by himself, but never amounts to much. He's started and only doing things when he wants now, so I think I may be fighting a losing battle. lol
I'll most likely do way with diapers unless for nighttime since I'm home with him during the day anyhow. Pull-ups seem such a waste, he can yank his diapers up and down just as easily. :P

hehe yeah pull ups arent any help, to the kids they feel just like diapers, and they already know its ok to go potty in diapers. Its not til they are in underwear that they know something is different.

Well they worked for us. Catherine only wore them at night, otherwise she was regular big girl panties during the day.

David's cutting his two bottom molars at the same time. No wonder he's been pissed lately. :rant

I was potty trained by two weeks. Then again i was a ninja by age 3 so I guess I did everything a bit early. It was a little hard being the only ninja that was sensitive enough to cry during chick flicks, but I managed.

I was well into my third year by the time I was trained, but then I had bowel problems when I was young and simply couldn't always help it lol. I do actually remember having my diaper changed on one occasion, my Mum says thats bullshit, how can I remember that far back, til I pointed out that I remembered being in hospital too and I was two and a half then :D That put her in her place!

The problems of having a toddler in the house pale in comparison to my issues. I have a TEENAGER! ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! To make matters worse, I am ONLY the stepmom and have no authority! My income paid for his precious computer and pays for the mortgage on the house that he choose to live in and yet, it is frequently his choice to make my life miserable. My friends tell me to look on the bright side, obviously he is torturing me because I have become a parental figure.

Ahhhh....sometimes my single/carefree days seem like nirvana ;)

my sister in law is with a guy, his kids.. well they were teens when she met him.. shes been with him for over 10 years now.. Anyhow.. they still live with dad.. in their late 20s, and make her life a living hell. :(

Fuck that. That girls know when they graduate, if they do, they are expected to get the fuck out of my house ASAP!

I'm kind of looking forward to potty training because I am going to make Erik do it :D I haven't got little boy parts to show James how to do his thing :P Everyone I know says boys are harder than girls, I hope not because CeCe was a pain in the ass to train.

Oh Lessa...I am sorry about your sister. I have to tell you that 10 years down the road I fear I will be in the same position.

Laschae, it is funny that you are working on potty training and thinking about graduations LOL.

I told my oldest that he would start paying rent after he graduated high school,

There are a couple of tricks you can use with boys that you can't easily with girls. The main one being putting a cheerio or other floaty but flushable item in the bowl and getting him to pee on it. Makes them keen as mustard to use the big toilet standing up.

I went big on rewarding successful toilet adventures :) And it helped that I mostly had Dale in just diapers in summer as we were living in Outback Australia and it was so hot. So there wasn't alot of clothing to shed if he needed to go.

Toilet training a boy isn't that awful unless you get one that is totally resistant to the idea. Then you may want to rethink your timing, give it a month before introducing it again.

One of the many reasons I fled the UK. I am 24 and was still living with my father and his wife, I didn't want them to be bitching about me even more than they did to my face lol. So glad to be freeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Lessa 17 years ago
lol, ou would think these guys would want that too, but both have enough money in their personal accounts they could pay for an upscale house themselves, and they work for dads realestate company.. so yea, doesnt look like itll happen.. like ever

I swear Ali is down right refusing to sleep at night. She can be totally exhausted and she'll be forcing herself awake.
