Rikr's baby adventure!

We went to the doctor today. Got first set of pictures. Steph is 15 weeks, but we don't know what it is yet. I was bummed; I want to know. Steph said she didn't see a stem, but we'll know for sure next month.
Due date is Feb 5, 2008. I can't wait.

A not so good turn of events yesterday. Steph started having contractions that she thought were Braxton Hicks or something like that. They were (she said) mild and far between. I tried not to freak out, but as the day went on, they were becoming more frequent and stronger. I took her to the ER and they admitted her last night. She was starting to dilate. She is on Magnesium Sulfate (I think is what it is), and will be for the next 2 days. The nurse told us she will be in the hospital now a minimum of 1 week, if things go very very well. Otherwise, she may be there until the baby comes out, which would be about 2 months.

For those of you who pray, We would greatly appreciate your prayers, and hope things go well and the baby to be ok. I'm pretty much a wreck at this point. I guess 2 hours of sleep in a freezer will do that to a guy. Had to come home to get the winter gear so I don't get frost bite in her room.

Will let you all know more when I find out more...back to the hospital I go.

Rikr,
On the pregnancy board I frequent, we've had several women who've had similar events to your sweetie's. They've managed to keep the babies in with medical care and bed rest. One of the ladies went into premature labor at 24 weeks, and she hit 34 weeks this past week. The medicine and interventions they have now work wonders. Just wanted to give you that good thought. I will definitely keep you guys in my thoughts. Keep us posted, and hoping the little one bakes longer.

This seems to be more and more common these days. Modern technology though is a wonder - everyone will be 5 by 5, just hang tight, Don. /hug

Thanks everyone. I bought her a bear today to put in the room. I almost bawled in the gift shop paying for it.

What a day, what a day...

Alexis decided she just had to come out today. She was born at 12:11 pm today. I rushed to the hospital once I got the call from Steph saying I should probably head to the hospital. It took me about 40 minutes to get there, but I was too late. Alexis was on her way to NICU. She weighs 2 1/2 pounds. She is doing well at the moment and we now begin the long journey to get her to come home. She is breathing on her own, and only needs a tiny bit of help with the oxygen. She grabbed my pinky finger, and her hand couldn't wrap around it. They said the first 72 hours are the most critical. This is the time frame that most babies that develop any bleeding in the brain occur. I'll post some pictures of my little princess when she gets a little better. We appreciate all your well wishes and prayers. They are working well so far, and we could use more along the way.
