My god it is hard to get freaky with the guy in your tent. I got stuck with the virgin ex-templar, grey warden bastard heir to the throne... OF COURSE. What's a wood elf gotta do to f9ck a guy?!?!

lol

GOD FINALLY! I had to find his busted up amulet first to be able to de-virginize Allistar. Geez. First time I found the amulet, I killed the possessed kid after and wow he got PISSED. So I went back and just got the amulet, then busted out of the castle and hit it with him at the camp.

KA-CHING!

LOL, I heard about that scene where he got pissed. Haven't experienced it myself though. ROFL that you just went ahead and killed the kid, who cares, la la! =p

Well, I went to the mage tower and man that takes forever. I got him to give me a rose too, but 2nd time around he just said he loved me and had awkward sex lol. When he got pissed though - wow. I persuaded him to stop being a dick, but I lost -20 approval! O_O

So I started playing this tonight. It took me about 2 hours just to create a character and fight my first enemy, which turned out to be nothing more than an angry firefly. So far, the progression isn't quite like I had expected... it seems you need to go through every conversation option with all or most of the NPCs in order to fill up your Codex or progress further in the quest. So far it's been kinda slow. I finally reached a conversation where my response had a permanent consequence (at least, I think so... can't be sure unless I play another mage and choose a different option), and then decided I'd better go to bed :(

It always takes me hours to create a character on any game that I initially play as well lol =(
ROzbeans 16 years ago
Took me 2 mins to make a character =x Yeah it starts slow but it gets pretty interesting when you start picking up members of your group. Some of the quests are friggin exhausting though =/

I still need to play a human noble and decided to mess around last night to see if I could create a human I liked. Short answer is no, but I did waste all that time installing the "new hairstyle" mod and hating all the anime styles that was added. It's not so much the anime itself, but that the styles cover up the face. I can't see my character from the side as well WHEN ALISTAIR IS KISSING HER OMG. At least someone took the trouble to make the extra styles so that was cool -- just not for me.

Are you using your tactics options? I haven't even messed with that yet, but I know you should.

Pharren, for what it's worth, the mage origin is not as in-depth as the other origins. It's kinda generic, imo, because it has to cover both human and elves. With the other racial origins, you really get a sense of what defines them. I was a little let down by the mage origins, but the mage class is what I liked the best for the rest of the game. (Heals + crowd control = $$) The game should get better from there, especially as you pick up party members, etc.

Game is kinda laggy for me at times on my laptop, probably because the resolution is 1920x1080. At the beginning of the mage introduction with all the crepuscular rays, it's especially bad. I turned everything to low and enabled some option on the configuration thingy and now it's not bad... but I can't wait to get my desktop fixed now and see how it looks there.

So are all the progressions the same to start out? Like, do they all join the Grey Wardens or is that just a mage thing or just a Pharren thing or what? Can I get freaky with Morrigan? Can I get freaky with Alistair?!? Can I get freaky with them both at the same time?!??!! I MUST KNOW THESE THINGS!
Kelefane 16 years ago
Pharren is just playing this for the sex!
ROzbeans 16 years ago
You can do threesomes, I hear up to a foursome. Yes you can do Morrigan (i youtubed her sex scene, /snort) but basically everyone gets recruited by Duncan, the head Grey Warden in Ferlablahblah. I guess you all end up at the big flight where everyone but you and Allistair die.
Beli 16 years ago
Heh. Play the other origins, omg.

The whole game is about you being a Grey Warden. How you become one is dependent on your origin. In some situations, you simply have no choice (i.e. a death sentence). In other situations where you do have a choice, you either voluntarily sign up or Duncan invokes the Right of Conscription, forcing you to come along. It just adds a little flavor. The following dialogue you get in camp allows you to complain about having to be there at all or you can be a loyal follower. Just little things like that.

There are only four romance options available: Morrigan is for male characters only. Leliana (female bard) and Zevran (male rogue) are bisexual and available to both female and male charactrs. Alistair is for female characters only.

You can try to sleep with everyone if you want, but you're going to be forced to choose. (i.e. The females will ask you wtf you're doing with the other person and you basically have to decide who you want to stay with and break up with the other.)

Also the sex scenes will only play ONCE. I don't know why it is. The rest of the game, you only get kisses when you are really asking for sex. There *IS* a mod that will trigger the sex scenes every time for you. The only difference I've seen is that for Zevrhan, when you asked for sex, he'd lean in to kiss you and the sex scene would be implied. In the mod, it just goes straight to the sex scene, no lean-in kissing prelude. Go to http://www.dragonagenexus.com/index.php and do a search for "Sex Movies Always Play" and pick the race you are playing. (I think the author has to adjust the scenes based on player height/size. My dwarf always had to be moved up to even be kissed by Alistair.)

**MINOR SPOILERS BELOW ABOUT SEXUAL ENCOUNTERS**

If you "harden" Alistair or Leliana during their personal quests (google that term for more details), they'll be more wiling to do a threesome later on in the game when you encounter a female pirate. No sex scenes though -- it's just implied.

If you do the human noble origin and talk to one of the guests later in the study (after running into your mother, but before you seek out your brother), you can arrange for the male or female to "meet you" in your room later that night. (Does not matter what gender you are.) No obvious sex scenes, but they do wake up in bed with you and walk around in their undergarments.

There are more situations like this in the game, but I don't know where they all are. I'd need to find a spoiler site or a thread that detailed this stuff.

I played Dragon Age: Origins one and a half times before I stopped playing it. After my first straight play through of my Elf Mage, I tried all the other characters. Made it about half way through with a warrior (I think), then stopped for some reason.

Either way, I absolutely love this game as well. I immediately bought one of the books written by the writer of Dragon Age: Origins. I enjoyed it to pieces. I need to get the other now!

Can't wait for Return to Ostagar DLC on January 5th!!

My husband just told me that there are rumors floating around online that there's an expansion coming in March, picking up from where we left off with the ending for another 15 hours of game play. I googled for this info and there are some sites buzzing although details are unknown.

I have deleted my dwarf noble warrior and recreated her because 1) I didn't really know what I was doing on my first playthrough and missed a lot of stuff and 2) I got the DLC stuff like Warden's Keep and Shale on my third playthrough, meaning my dwarf missed out on all that and 3) she is my first love and she is the story I want to keep going. I really want to have a nice clean copy in hopes of seeing where the storyline with Alistair goes. I also have my elf mage, who I actually like. She was devoted to Zevran so I'd love to see what happens with those two in the expansion, too.

I'm playing a human male noble right now, just to see what the flip side of the coin is like. I didn't like Morrigan on my female characters, but she's got me laughing on the male version. (Way more dialogue choices available with the male so that explains why she seemed overly ice-queenish to my females.) And Alistair comes across as a charming goofball with my females, but boy, he's really irritating to my male character. The dialogue is the same, pretty much, but c'mon, man, we're bros -- it's just not as cute, y'know?

And can't wait for the expansion on the 5th! I have my new dwarf ready and waiting for that day. I'll kill time with my male noble until then!

(Note to self: change the GD sig already.)

Expansion on the 5th?
Beli 16 years ago
Bah, sorry, shouldn't have said "expansion" when I meant DLC (download content). The DLC "Return to Ostagar" is available for $5 via downoad on the 5th.

Return to Ostagar

Your memories of the battle of Ostagar will haunt you for years to come. It laid waste to your order and claimed the lives of many great men and women, including the brash young King Cailan and your mentor, Duncan.

Now, there are rumors that a fellow survivor of the battle has escaped from captivity and is seeking the Grey Wardens' help. The time has come for the Grey Wardens to make their return to Ostagar and exact their revenge upon the darkspawn.

  • Return to the battlefields of Ostagar, now thick with darkspawn encamped amidst the snow.

  • Reclaim the lost arms and armor of a king

  • Have a second chance to add Dog to your party

Here's the info on the rumored expansion for March (i.e. new character, level cap raised, supposedly picks up where you left off -- nothing is confirmed officially):

I'm wondering how they will do an expansion especially with the multiple endings and relationships/etc that you could have. It's mind boggling to me!

I need a support hotline or something for this game.

- Should I ditch Dog (his name is Spencer, actually) for Lelaine or whatever her name is? She's got a sexy accent...
- Should I bother to save Sten? I know you can do it without threatening the Reverend Mother, but do I even need him? Can I abandon the quest somehow?
- What happens if I have someone in my party that I'm not using, and decide I want to use them later? Will they still be level 7 even though I'm level 200 or whatever?
- HOW THE F DO I GET TO THE PARTY CAMP?!?!?
- Do I need to buy this Warden's Peak thing in order to get a chest? Or is there another chest in the party camp?
- Where can I get backpacks? I neglected to buy any from the guy in that one place where everybody died, since I didn't realize just running near the stupid King would start that event and make the Quartermaster vanish.

Next time, I'm making a rogue. All these locked chests all over the place make me angry.
